SUPER SHOWING FOR COLONIE, DUKES BEAT ALBANY 20-0 FOR CLASS A TITLE.(Sports)

Undefeated Colonie, scoring on its first two possessions, used a record-smashing day by running back Chuck Dukes and outstanding defense to shut out Albany High 20-0 Saturday and win the Super Bowl - the SectionII, ClassA football championship - before a crowd estimated at 5,000 at Shenendehowa.

The Garnet Raiders (10-0) advanced to the regionals at 6p.m. next Sunday at Cornell University in Ithaca, where they'll meet Maine-Endwell (8-2), which beat Binghamton 29-28 Saturday in the SectionIV title game.

Colonie, which until this year had not won a league championship since being a tri-champion of the Suburban Council with Bethlehem and Columbia in 1958, earned its berth in the regionals behind the running of the talented Dukes.

A brawny-but-quick 5-foot-11 senior, Dukes rushed for 201 yards in 22 carries and scored two first-quarter touchdowns. …
