New Delhi, Jan. 31 -- The American rumour mill has gone into overdrive after an unconfirmed report that First Lady Michelle Obama is pregnant was published on the internet.
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton was the first to report that rumours are circulating Washington DC claiming a third Obama child is on the way. Though Hilton added a rare caveat, admitting the rumour is 'completely unconfirmed', it was quickly picked up by other media gossip-mongers and spread throughout the internet. Hilton said: 'This is completely unconfirmed and at this point just a 'rumour' but ... we're hearing the talk in DC is that Michelle Obama is pregnant. 'Could this be true????? It'd be happy news! Hopefully it's a boy!' The White House has made no comment on the rumours. Journalists began scouring images of Mrs Obama during her husband's inauguration to see if a baby bump could be spotted beneath her elegant clothes - or to note if she was staying away from alcohol. Though images of 45-year-old Mrs Obama drinking from a wine glass with her husband have been published, it was difficult to ascertain if the liquid in her glass was alcoholic.
One website speculated she may have been pregnant as far back back as election night on November 5 when her husband was chosen to be president. The White House refused to comment on the speculation. Mrs Obama, or America's 'mom-in-chief' as she is sometimes known, has previously stated that she and Barack do not plan to have another child.
